Regally bred filly The Broken Shore can add her name to Gai Waterhouse’s burgeoning army of two-year-olds when she makes her debut at Gosford on Wednesday.
The Hussonet half sister to champion sire Redoute’s Choice won a barrier trial in late December in preparation for her first assignment.
“She is a really lovely filly and she will be there on Wednesday,” Waterhouse said.
She is raced by Sri Lankan businessman Muzaffar Yaseen who also owns Redoute’s Choice who stands at Arrowfield Stud and his dam Shantha’s Choice.
Waterhouse trained another sibling, Platinum Choice, for Yaseen’s Teeley Assets company, taking the horse to victory in the Group One Spring Champion Stakes.
The Broken Shore is not the only blue blood in the Gosford race with the Hawkes team to start You Got The Love, a More Than Ready colt out of dual Group One winner Lovely Jubly.
He won his first barrier trial at Warwick Farm last Tuesday.
“He’s done everything right,” co-trainer Michael Hawkes said.
“He’s a really nice colt and I think this could turn out to be a pretty good form race.”
Like The Broken Shore, You Got The Love was not offered for sale and is raced by the Throsby family who raced Lovely Jubly.
Chris Waller has three juveniles entered for the race, among them Kristy Lee, another with impeccable breeding.
She is by Encosta De Lago out of Shania Dane, a multiple Group winner and Group One placegetter.
She was a $500,000 Easter yearling and is raced by the Ingham family as are Jade Marauder (Fastnet Rock-Jade Diva) and Forever Crazy (Enocsta de Lago-Fiammorosa).
“Probably only two of them will run,” Waller said.
“We haven’t decided which ones but they are all nice horses.”
Kristy Lee ran third to Forever Crazy in a barrier trial on Thursday.
Jade Marauder is experienced under raceday conditions with a debut third in the Gimcrack Stakes in October to her credit.
The Gosford meeting is one of several metropolitan fixtures transferred out of town while Randwick undergoes reconstruction work.
